Tina, founder of Dancemind is a dance practitioner, who has worked in the field of dance as a dancer, teacher and facilitator for over 12 years now. She currently specialises in dance-in-health work promoting emotional, physical and mental well-being through dance and movement. She has been inspired by this work since 2001 when working at an psychiatric hospital looking after a variety of people through ill health whilst undertaking her degree in Performance Studies. It was here that Tina wanted to mix up the two things she felt most passionate about - dance and helping people. After Graduating in 2004 with first class honors degree, Tina went on to teach dance to a group of adults with mental health problems which launched her journey into the dance-in-health field, and has since lead to some amazing and inspiring work that continues to surprise and bring such joy to the people she works with today.

Tina has taught in many health care settings including the NHS and private health care as well as in education and community settings offering dance, movement and creativity sessions to all people from the very young (youngest being 18 months) to the very frailest (eldest being 98 years) allowing everybody to feel a sense of embodiment, enrichment and to increase their overall sense of well-being and physical health.

“I didn’t want to even get up this morning let alone dance, but now I have I feel I can tackle tasks that I probably would have normally put off. I need to remember this feeling next time I’m asked to dance as I feel so alive” (Participant in a residential home, 2010)

Tina focuses on delivering through a person centered approach and will always design her classes bespoke to each group to ensure they get the best possible service right for them.

Current classes being delivered are to specialist dementia groups, residential and care homes and Primary School dance tuition from nursery to year 6. Tina has also previously worked with disability groups, mental health support groups and worked for Age Concern on a casual basis.

Tina also has her EXTEND Diploma and is well equipped in promoting good health, diet and nutrition, recreational rehabilitation, recreational movement to music for the over 60’s.
